Per Arne Pettersson of LKO and Gary Mitchell of L-KOPIA did a great job putting together the new L-KOPIA addition, “The L-KOPIA/LKO All Terrain & Track Laser Survey Vehicle”. Per and Gary also had great help from Consolidated Fabrication Inc. in Gary, IN. Consolidated personnel made all brackets and installed the heavy duty tool box in the back, plus customizing the trailer, including winch arrangements. The versatile laser vehicle started at MBTA in Boston on August 15th. Everything is working great and the short wheelbase makes it easy to negotiate the very sharp curves on parts of the MBTA system. All equipment used in our larger vehicles is also installed in the smaller “Mule”, including CCD camera, DVD recorder and GPS receiver. Please contact us for more information about the new ATV laser carrier.

LKO has several ongoing projects in Sweden. The latest survey was for the new and upgraded Ådalbanan at the east coast, about 400 kilometer north of Stockholm. The 150 kilometer long line will open on December 12th, 2011. A new feature is that there are no visible signals. All train movements on Ådalsbanan will be controlled by a special version of ATC (Automatic Train Control), called ERTMS. The ERTMS system is used by several railroads in Europe and Ålandsbanan is the first line in Sweden to implement the system.
