L-KOPIA in WA and Mississippi and LKO busy with Swedish Rail (Trafikverket)
While waiting for track time, Jason Gore of L-KOPIA is adjusting the laser bracket on our F-350 laser truck somewhere in the mountains in WA. Gary Mitchell took the picture.

L-KOPIA is busy in Mississippi and in the Pacific Northwest. The special tunnel survey in WA will be completed in a couple of days as railroad crews are finishing surfacing work. L-KOPIA estimates that we will re-measure about 8 miles of tunnels (in one day) and express process data for PDF plots in 1-2 days. Furthermore, DVD recording will accompany the plots for additional information (we have added lights on our F-350 laser truck for great visibility also in tunnels). L-KOPIA/LKO DVD recording includes continues Mile/Km reading and all other specifics from the laser program heading (track numbers, track segments, direction of travel, date, time and GPS when used).

L-KOPIA is also busy in Mississippi on a clearance survey from Louisiana and Alabama to Midwest and Chicago. We have finished about 700 miles of main tracks at this time, but we still have about the same to go before we get to Chicago and double to 4 main tracks.
The two last days has been very hot and heat-advisory is in place (with heat-index 114 degrees Fahrenheit). So far the laser is holding up good and the “Super-cool” peltier unit is working on 100% cooling effect.

A picture from the back seat of LKO’s L-200 laser truck. Lots of equipment, but Lasse Ericsson of LKO knows exactly what buttons to press. Lasse is also behind the camera.

LKO’s major survey project (both clearance and track center) for Swedish Rail (new name is Trafikverket, as the D.O.T and Banverket is combined as one Transportation Authority from January 2010) is continuing as per plan. We have two laser trucks in use at this time (our Mitsubishi L200 Hy-Rail and our Tri Star Hy-Rail) and LKO is waiting for certification of our third laser vehicle (the 2003 F-350 purchased from L-KOPIA, Inc. in December 2009).

Finally the Danish Rail Ballast Survey is finished, but LKO will be back in July for a clearance survey too. The post processing for JBV is ongoing. We have finished about 40% of the 3,800 cross sections we took in April and May.

Please contact us for more information on any of LKO or L-KOPIA’s projects.
