LKO started the new Banverket (Swedish Rail) clearance contract in late March. LKO has ironed out several new issues with Swedish Rail representatives. The new Clearance & Track Center procedures include GPS and a totally revised structure code list. LKO clearance and track center data will, as before, be stored in the Swedish Rail Mainframe (BIS) format. However, Swedish Rail has also implemented many new features that change our post processing procedures, and initiated a good two months of additional LKO programming time. Lasse Ericsson of LKO performed the first two field projects for Banverket in Southern Sweden in the end of March. The first new format data post processing is performed by LKO’s Mats Johansson, and will be uploaded to the Swedish Rail Mainframe within the next couple of days.
Lars Lundberg of LKO/L-KOPIA started a Danish Rail (BaneDanmark) survey project on Friday, April 9th in Roskilde, Denmark. LKO and BaneDanmark has an agreement where LKO install the LKO/L-KOPIA LD Clearance Laser System on a Danish rail bound trolley (prepared with base for laser brackets, etc.). An LKO (or L-KOPIA) laser professional will then start up the project and up-date and train the Danish Rail laser operator/technician in charge on new features in the leased LKO hard & software. Lars Lundberg will this time participate three (3) night shifts. The total fieldwork time is estimated to around 20-25 measuring shifts and include a large amount of ballast and clearance data. |
The L-KOPIA crew Gary Mitchell and Jason Gore finished phase one of our major U.S. clearance survey in Onalaska, WI on March 31st. After a week’s break for Easter celebrations, the crew is now in Minnesota (after a short track center session in Illinois). Phase 2 will take our crew west to Montana. More info in our next newsletter.
L-KOPIA’s second laser truck with Lars Lundberg behind the wheel performed a couple of smaller surveys from Philadelphia, PA to Rockford, IL in March and April. The Philly job was a special load survey for a big transformer. We also finished the last subdivision for DM&E in Rockford, Illinois. This large clearance survey started in October of last year and just 50 miles was unfinished due to the long winter. Final data is now placed on our FTP site for the customer to download and the last DVD was sent out before Easter. Finally, L-KOPIA / LKO is sending out (and visiting customers) more information regarding our joint venture with Zetica. Please contact us and we will be happy to discuss and send you detailed information on our Rail Asset Scanning, including GRP and Ballast Profiling services. |
